Hand Knit Hats and Patches

Knitting and stitching helps to keep us sane with the ever changing chaos.  Creating lets us raise funds for mutual aid where it is needed.  The need is great and constantly changing.  Ten dollars from each purchase will go directly to fund a project helping a community.  

The Frog hat idea is from a Portland, OR knitter/activist @pdxknitterati on Instagram where she has a free pattern.  I've changed it a bit as it's very similar to a hat style I've knit a lot.

I've knit and sold 10 frog hats- thanks to all who purchased one.  I was able to send $100 to Mutual Aid in Minnesota.  Actually it was $120 as one lovely person made an extra donation.  

Then "Catch of the Day"  started here in Maine.  I have a spring style knit beanie in a Liam blue.  (Liam is the 5 year old taken from his family wearing the bunny hat.).  The hat has a patchwork fish appliqué added for a bit more style and to highlight the fishing aspect currently happening.

We also have 3 political patches with the Catch of the Day motif.  The patches have a peel away paper backing which can be ironed onto any garment.  Stitching will make the patch last longer and honestly anytime you take a needle to a garment you increase the love.  

The next batch of mutual aid will go directly to a local project called Community Blankets, creating warm blankets for folks in need.  They have purchased bolts of polar fleece to make reversible, warm and cozy blankets.  The donation would help pay for the cost of the polar fleece  The creation of the blankets is all by volunteers and 100 blankets have been given to local organizations who work with unhoused folks, immigrants and others who could use some warm and cozy love.
